LAC: When did you decide to start making your health a priority (what or whom inspired this decision) and what were your goals?
Charles: As I was getting older my metabolism slowed down and I was exhausted all the time. At the age of 25 I knew something was wrong with that. I knew I needed to be in better shape.
LAC: How did you get started and what did you do to improve your health?
Charles: I found a program on bodybuilding.com because I knew nothing about lifting weights and exercising. It helped me to get a good foundation. I started bodybuilding 6 days a week as well as tinkering with my diet, sometimes for the better. It was a learning curve. I’m in the gym now six days a week, watching what I eat, while helping others in their fitness journey.
LAC: How did you stay motivated and what was the biggest challenge?
Charles: I enjoyed seeing and feeling the progress, meeting people in the gym, as well. Challenges were the learning curve that came with knowing nothing about fitness as well as hitting plateaus in my diet.
LAC: What positive changes did you see in your life and what did you learn throughout this process?
Charles: My attitude toward being and staying healthy improved. As I continued I saw continual progress in my physique. I met many friends at the gym who could give me pointers as well. My family is incredibly proud and now come to me for advice.
LAC: Final Thoughts? Is there anything else you would like share about your story?
Charles: Ministry and a family has been my goal for a long time. I feel I could not lead others well in any manner of life. I first must live well with a holistic approach to life.
