COVID-19 : LAC Reopening Procedures

COVID-19 : Louisville Athletic Club Temporary Club Closure and Reopening Procedures

Updated 5/26/2020

Louisville Athletic Club Members:

Louisville Athletic Clubs in Kentucky are reopening on June 1st, 2020. We have worked hard to ensure safety and health recommendations are followed. In order to remain open, it is of utmost importance that both members and staff follow current guidelines and implement new habits to ensure a safe fitness environment. There will be new cleaning routines, signage to remind everyone to workout at the recommended social distance, and limited amenities. Bear in mind, these guidelines are subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials. We ask that you show patience and kindness to your fellow members and our dedicated staff during this re-opening period. We are all having to navigate these changes.

Club hours will return to a normal schedule effective June 1, 2020. Updated Group Fitness schedules will be posted May 31st, 2020.

What Changes Can Members Expect?

Face Masks: All members and staff will be required to wear masks when entering and exiting the facility and when in common areas (restrooms, hallways, or walking to and from their workout station). Members have the option to remove the mask once they have reached their class or workout station, but only if appropriately social distanced. Staff members will be wearing masks during their shift except when teaching classes.

Checking-In: Members will be asked to self-scan their key tag membership cards to allow for limited contact entry.

Temperature or Health Screening Questions: Upon entry, members will be screened for illness (either by a non-touch forehead temperature check or questionnaire). No one exhibiting symptoms of illness will be allowed to check-in.

Social Distancing: There will be signage throughout the club and on the floors denoting safe distances. We have also either moved machines or closed machines off to prevent any workout stations from being closer than the recommended distance apart of six feet.

Hand Sanitizing: We have added additional hand-sanitizer stations throughout the facility and encourage everyone to use those as often as possible. They are also filled with alcohol-based sanitizer, recommended for killing COVID-19 quickly.

Hand Washing: Everyone is encouraged to wash their hands often and for at least 30 seconds to prevent the spread of germs.

Group Fitness Classes: Group fitness class floors and indoor cycling bikes have been marked with the appropriate social distance. Classes will be on a first-come first-serve basis and members are strongly encouraged to bring their own mats, bands, and equipment.

Equipment Sanitation: As before, we have stations located throughout the club with sanitizer for all members to wipe down equipment BEFORE and AFTER use. The sanitizer we use is commercial grade and highly effective. Members are required to wipe down any equipment prior to and post using any piece of equipment. We also have additional staff working to sanitize club equipment throughout the day.

Water-Fountains: Drinking fountains are closed but water bottle filling stations WILL be available so please bring your own bottle. Drinking-fountains are not allowed at this time but subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials.

Playroom Services: Closed. Expected to reopen on June 15th. Not allowed at this time but subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials.

Racquetball/Basketball: Closed. Expected to reopen when team contact sports are allowed. Not allowed at this time but subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials.

Lockers: Closed.  Not allowed at this time but subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials.

Showers: Closed. Not allowed at this time but subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials.

Saunas: Closed. Not allowed at this time but subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials.

Tanning Beds: Closed. Not allowed at this time but subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials.

Vending Machines: Closed. Not allowed at this time, but the Muscle Monkey Grill is open, subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials.

Waiting Areas: Closed. Waiting areas will be closed at this time. Members are encouraged to leave directly after their workouts, but subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials.

Lost-and-Found Bins: Currently removed from the facilities, but subject to change based on recommendations from government health officials.

Additional Precautions Related to COVID-19:

  • Before reopening, every piece of equipment was thoroughly sanitized.
  • We will be operating at 33% maximum occupancy for the entire facility.
  • Staff will be sanitizing the facility and monitoring club activity to ensure that club rules are followed (especially social distancing and wiping down equipment). We plan to work hard to maintain a high level of cleanliness.
  • Temperature checks for staff are REQUIRED as they enter the building and masks are required throughout their entire shift. Group exercise instructors will be able to remove their masks while class is in session. No one exhibiting symptoms of illness will be allowed to work.
