AN INTERVIEW WITH THE UNSTOPPABLE PATRICK FOGLE FOR THE MY JOURNEY STORY SERIES.

LAC: When did you decide to start making your health a priority (what or whom inspired this decision) and what were your goals?

Patrick: On February 5, 2015 a couple of guys at work talked me and two other guys into a weight loss contest. The three of us each put a hundred dollars into the pot giving the winner three hundred dollars when the competition was over. My goal was to win the contest and to reach 200 pounds.

LAC: How did you get started and what did you do to improve your health?

Patrick: At the initial competition weigh-in I was 362.8 pounds and 58% body fat. The first step I took for improving my health was changing my diet, which I did for the first month and a half. I joined LAC on March 24th and began doing cardio. I started with 30 minutes of cardio and worked up to 2 hours of cardio.

LAC: How did you stay motivated and what was the biggest challenge?

Patrick: In the first month I lost 15 pounds which got me motivated. After that I took it as a challenge to see how much weight I could lose. In the first three months I lost 48 pounds. After that, I set a goal to lose 100 pounds in six months. The biggest challenge was in the first three months when the kitchen was being remodeled so the only thing I had to cook with was a microwave. I ate a lot of frozen grilled chicken and 90 second Uncle Ben’s rice.

LAC: What positive changes did you see in your life and what did you learn throughout this process?

Patrick: Two positive changes for me have been lower blood pressure and I am able to wear normal size clothing. I have received a lot of support and encouragement from others and I have inspired others to take action to improve their own health. I have learned that eating more healthy and regularly going to the gym is not as difficult as I thought.

LAC: Final Thoughts? Is there anything else you would like share about your story?

Patrick: Look at the journey to better health as a challenge to be better to you. If I can do this, then anyone can do it.
