An Interview with Tennis Player, Cleo Meaux, for the My Journey Story Series.
LAC: When did you decide to start making your health a priority (what or whom inspired this decision) and what were your goals?
Cleo: After I lost three brothers to kidney disease at a young age. My goals were to stay healthy and keep my blood pressure down.
LAC: How did you get started and what did you do to improve your health?
Cleo: I work at LAC so I saw many of the trainers working out with their clients. I started out by working with one of the trainers at LAC. Andrea worked with me for a while. The trainers had work out plans and they gave me good advice.
LAC: How did you stay motivated and what was the biggest challenge?
Cleo: It got difficult after I began to have knee issues, but watching the devoted clients come in regularly gave me motivation to work out. There are several other employees and LAC members that work out often so they make me want to continue. My biggest challenge was finding a routine that I really enjoyed and could sustain over a period of time.
LAC: What positive changes did you see in your life and what did you learn throughout this process?
Cleo: I lost weight and my knees feel much better. I started to play tennis again. Staying healthy is a process. You will be motivated on some days and not so much on other days. I am still working out. I try to start my work out earlier. I am also going to get back into tennis again.
LAC: Final Thoughts? Is there anything else you would like share about your story?
My workout journey is just beginning. I am sure it will continue to change.
