Interview with New Mother, Nicole LaMaster, for the MY JOURNEY Story Series
LAC: When did you decide to start making your health a priority (what or whom inspired this decision) and what were your goals?
Nicole: I have always been on the healthier/athletic side, but once I got pregnant and had my first child I lost sight of taking care of myself. I made my daughter my first priority. Once she had her first birthday I was having problems keeping up with her and how busy she is, I decided it was time to put my health first. I wanted to set good example for my daughter and get back in shape.
LAC: How did you get started and what did you do to improve your health?
Nicole: I started small, the biggest challenge was making the time to get in the gym. I keep a food journal and make sure to watch what I eat. Even with the smallest change in a habit, I can feel the difference.
LAC: How did you stay motivated and what was the biggest challenge?
Nicole: Having someone to help keep you motivated has really helped me. My fiance has always been my biggest supporter. Like I’ve said before, setting a great example for my daughter my daughter is what pushes me to put my best foot forward.
LAC: What positive changes did you see in your life and what did you learn throughout this process?
Nicole: The best outcome from all of this is that I can keep up with a busy walking toddler that gets into EVERYTHING!
LAC: Final Thoughts? Is there anything else you would like share about your story?
Nicole: I just want to say that everyone has their own healthy! Its not easy taking the first step, but every little thing helps and it just takes you making the choice to put yourself first. 🙂
